I’m the owner of a small café somewhere in Japan. Each day, I serve food and drinks to customers, while my wife works tirelessly in the kitchen, preparing dishes and desserts. Together with a small team, we keep the café running smoothly.

I wanted to do something.

But as a café owner, taking a clear political stance in public could threaten my very livelihood.

So, I made a decision:
I would let someone else “speak” for me — without making my own position explicit.

The Birth of an AI Character: “Inspector Trench”

In a quiet corner of my café, I set up a laptop and began working with the latest AI technology.
From this, I created a unique “speaker” — an AI voice to carry the questions and observations I’ve kept to myself.

His name is Inspector Trench.

He’s a bit of a cynic, reminiscent of those old detective dramas from the Showa era.
A wry sense of humor, but somehow impossible to dislike.

Through him, I let my questions and concerns about society, politics, and the media come out as “grumbling monologues” — and together, we shape these into a single, thoughtful voice.

Collaborating with AI — And Confronting the Harsh Reality

To be honest, the possibilities for turning that future around are slim.

But they’re not zero.

This isn’t the project of any party or group.

It’s just me — a café owner in some quiet corner of Japan — taking on this new challenge in my own way.
